You must run WP 3.0+ for the theme to work like the demo – you should keep it up to date anyway for security reasons
Timthumb is used to re-size some images on the site. A non-timthumb version is available for people who’s server does not support the script
TimThumb requires the GD library, which should be available on any host sever with PHP 4.3+ installed.
